After what seems like endless days of grey and nights of deepest starless
black, the sky is totally clear and full of stars.
We have been trying to break through the ridge of high pressure, so far
unsuccessfully. Things were looking good for a while - the wind clocking
right into the north as it should. And then it suddenly died and shifted to
the south for a while, which was definitely not part of the plan or the
forecast!

On the subject of weather, how lucky for the organisers of the Transat
Jacques Vabre Normandie Le Havre (and the entire fleet) that the start of
the race was last weekend and not this one. It looks like seagull-flying-
backwards conditions back home.
